Someone once said ‘take that crisp white t-shirt, fold it, stretch it, crumple it, twist it, then dump it into a load of different fabric dyes. The rinse and repeat”. And they were presumably happy with the outcome and ty-dye was born. And now we have an entire day dedicated to this particular process so don your favourite Grateful Dead t-shirt and celebrate the day designed for psychedelic clothing. Alternatively, if you have any taste whatsoever you could just skip it and hope tomorrow’s day is a little less ridiculous.
Anyway, here’s a map…but wait…it’s also Mr Potato Head Day. What? A day dedicated to a plastic potato created by toy manufacturer Hasbro in the 1950s. Because, well… plastic potatos with body parts you can pin on in whatever ways you wish. It must have seemed a good idea to someone and, to be fair, it’s still in production so people love the little guy.
Maybe the toy creator was wearing a tye-dye shirt when they invented it. Or maybe not. Either way, you’ve got two maps in one today so here’s my tye-dye-Mr-Potato-Head mashup. (MASHup – oh my, I’ll get my coat… maybe I should have gone for international Jazz Day instead)
Original Prompt (Nano Banana 2)
I want to make a world map to mark Mr Potato Head Day, but at the same time also mark International Tye Dye Day. Can you conjure up a map image that somehow celebrates both of these?
